elite backfire?

This might be wishful thinking since an AP article came out saying Obama would be up 6 more points if he were a white man. But I think the Republican attacks, starting with Karl Rove's country club comment, on Obama's so-called elitism have undermined their attacks on him as different and as a creepy half-breed and have helped give him credibility. It worked better with Kerry since he was from Massachusetts and had a rich wife and was weird looking and windsurfed and whatnot.
